Dr. Lea Richter – Psychologist (Supervised Practice)
Dr. Lea Richter earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Zurich, Switzerland and completed clinical training at the C.G. Jung-Institute in Küsnacht, Zurich and its affiliated mental health clinic. Since 2016, Dr. Richter has held clinical positions in a group practice at the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich, and is a Registered Psychologist in Switzerland and has been working in private practice since 2021.
Dr. Richter provides psychological assessment and counselling for adults for a range of disorders/difficulties, and offers treatment for anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship, workplace stressors, and adjustment to life transitions, such as adapting to a new culture and parenthood. Having worked with international executives, university students, and families from around the globe her expertise lies in expats and TCKs (Third Culture Kids) and the problems they face while adjusting to a new way of life in a new country. Her many years of experience as an Educational Psychologist in international schools make her well equipped for questions around parenting and school-related issues. She has worked with children from 3 to 19 years of age, and their parents and teachers for almost a decade.
Dr. Richter offers an integrated yet individualized approach that is client-centered and resource-oriented, incorporating evidence-based techniques and modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Systemic Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and well versed in Mindfulness approaches. Her focus lies on uncovering each individuals’ inner reserves and dormant potential, and she offers her clients an atmosphere of support, hope, and humor. Dr. Richter practices in English and German. She also has exposure, and limited language ability and cultural understanding in Tibetan, Yiddish and Kanien‘kéha/Mohawk language and culture. She currently provides services virtually and will be offering services in-person beginning in December 2025.
