Michelle Goodburn – Nurse Practitioner
Michelle Goodburn NP is a registered nurse practitioner with the College of Nurses of Ontario. She earned her Master of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner from Athabasca University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York. She started her nurse practitioner career at Quest Community Health Centre where her practice focused on mood disorders, substance abuse, trauma and chronic mental illness.
Michelle is passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services and primary care to adolescents and adults. She possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. She follows evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition.
Michelle specializes in providing gender affirming care according to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standards of care. Regarding counselling, Ms. Goodburn offers treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, eating disorders, chronic pain, concussion, self-esteem issues, and relationship and workplace stressors. She provides assessment, advocacy, and support for adults exploring gender identity and gender transition. She practices from an integrated approach that is individualized and client-centered and incorporates Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, as well as emotion focused, attachment, and trauma-based models.
