Kara Davis – Doctoral Candidate, Assessment Placement Student

Ms. Kara Davis is a student in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology program at D’Youville University in Buffalo, NY. She is currently completing her Assessment Practicum Placement at Hillcrest Psychology under the supervision of Dr. Jean Dennis. Ms. Davis is learning how to administer and interpret various psychological assessments and provide therapeutic recommendations pending results of assessment. 

Ms. Davis has experience working with both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and has a particular research interest in autism and ADHD in children. She is also interested in pursuing research that will enhance knowledge and understanding of the presentation and potential masking of ADHD symptoms in young girls. Previous research done by Ms. Davis focused on the impact of mentors on middle school girls interested in the STEM field.

Through various life experiences, Ms. Davis has cultivated an inclusive, multicultural worldview. She enjoys finding ways to integrate this perspective into her work by ensuring all her interactions are client centered. Ms. Davis actively strives to create an environment in which her clients feel safe, valued, and heard.
