Dr. Jean Dennis – Psychologist
Dr. Jean Dennis is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. Since 2000, Dr. Dennis has held clinical positions at Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, Peel Halton Acquired Brain Injury Services, and Bartimaeus Inc. (a local agency providing behaviour therapy and support to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors who are experiencing behavioral, social, emotional, and psychiatric difficulties). She is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Dr. Jean Dennis provides psychological assessment and counselling for children, teens, and adults. She offers comprehensive psychological assessments of Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, mood and anxiety disorders, and personality disorders, as well as assessment for disability (ODSP, CPP-D, DTC).
Regarding counselling, Dr. Dennis offers treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, eating disorders, chronic pain, concussion, self-esteem issues, and relationship and workplace stressors. She provides assessment, advocacy, and support for children, teens, and adults exploring gender identity and gender transition. She practices from an integrated approach that is individualized and client-centred and incorporates Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, as well as emotion focused, attachment, and trauma-based models.
